April 7, 2008Real Productivity
From Gus - The Possibility Hunter
Time Management: sounds like a Catch 22 to me. If you’re good at it you have enough time to do twice as much work and if you’re bad at it you never get anything done. So is productivity really all about time management?
With this in mind April’s “That-Makes-So-Much-Sense-Why-Didn’t-I-Think-of-It” Award goes to: Dustin M. Wax, of lifehack.org . Thank you, Mr Wax, for an excellent post on productivity, and how time management fits into the equation:
“…the goal of time management should not only be to get the most done in the time allotted. At it’s best, time management offers a set of strategies for maintaining balance between “work” and “life”.
I’ve put those terms in quotes because a) our work is, of course, not a thing separate from life, and b) by “work” I don’t mean our job but all the least satisfying and least fulfilling tasks that we need to take care of in order to live.
Frankly, if your job consists entirely of that sort of work, you’d best be considering a switch!”
I feel much better about those extra years spent at university (having fun, not going to lectures and loving life)! Thank you, Mr Wax.
