From Gus - The Possibility Hunter
43 Folders is an excellent site for the software-oriented types, but here’s a little tip that’s more flexible than an old 5.25 inch floppy disk.
More flexible than Bruce Lee’s yellow spandex.
More adaptable than a balsa wood chair in a Cantonese tea-house brawl with foreign devils (Jet Li fans, that was for you).
Maybe even as amenable as how to Get Unstuck & Get Going …on the stuff that matters.
So what’s the secret you ask? Sui ren zhi shi, jie ren zhi li (of course) - an important principal of Taijiquan. Basically it’s the skill of using an attacker’s momentum towards you against them, by redirecting it in some more convenient, less painful, direction.
Can you imagine the possibilities of this in your place of business? Catching public transport? Sharing a walk-in wardrobe? Seems to me you can use it managing employees, managing your manager, managing the employee trying to manage your management, and so on.
So, put on your metaphorical jump suit and metaphorically get into it. Or deftly deflect it aside. Whatever works for you.
Thanks to Grant Balfour for his post in 43 Folders. You can check out more of Grant’s excellent posts at Flying Fists
