For another project, I’ve been recalling a trip to Ngukurr - an aboriginal community in the Northern Territory - where my brother was working as a teacher.

One of the amazing things we did was to drive out a little way and look at the stars. In the middle of the wilderness there was no light pollution, and the Milky Way stretched from horizon to horizon.

And it brought to mind this Arthur C. Clarke quote:

Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

I’m not sure I’d use “terrifying.” But I do know that either way blows my mind…
